Community service shows children's generous nature

St Edmund’s School, Jawahar Nagar organized a community service programme with a series of cultural and information-disseminating activities for the students of their adopted school RAJKIYA UCH MADHYAMIC SANSKRIT VIDYALAYA, Triveni Nagar, including several kinds of skits, musical performances and public service announcements.

The children performed very well and enjoyed each and every scene. Students were taught about health and hygiene, and sanitary napkins were distributed to the girls of RAJKIYA UCH MADHYAMIC SANSKRIT VIDYALAYA. St. Edmund’s School students taught their adoptive school peers about musical instruments and gave a spectacular performance on the issue “No use of plastic” and “Road safety”. Lessons on manners and etiquette were delivered by Edmundites. In order to make the students more tech-savvy, computer training was also provided.

As St.Edmund’s School is a member of interact club (RCJ), prominent Rotarians Moses Phillamin, Manoj Singh(Secretary) and Mr Sudhir Gupta were also present.
They appreciated the generous attitude of the children and were happy to see Edmundites making all efforts to connect with their peers at the government school.

"Our voice, their vision, An initiative towards inclusion"

To cater the learning needs of visually impaired children students of St. Edmund’s School, Jawahar Nagar, made an audiobook of Political Science for Classes IX and X (NCERT based textbook)for visually impaired children which were presented at the festival organized at City Palace on World Disability Day.
Joint director and mentor Dr Pooja Singh, and School Principal Anu Bhatia along with Mrs Pallavi Bhagchandani and Mrs Poonam Singh who guided the students have attended the function with the students of class 9th and 10th (Tanish katta, Shubham Krishnawat, Nidhi Meena, Kanishka Aswal, Dixita Jaiswal and Pari Jain).
During the launch of Audio Books, MLA Diya Kumari praised the participating schools and said that these types of efforts will help the visually impaired children to study.

Capacity Building on Economics

On November 26th and 27th, the Central Board of Secondary Education organized a “Capacity Building Programme” for senior teachers of Economics at St Edmund’s School, Jawahar Nagar. Teachers from various schools participated in the master training workshop, which gave them the opportunity to further their knowledge of their subject of study.
In describing the objectives behind organising this workshop, resource person Mrs Malti Modi (Vice Principle Bhawani Singh) and Mr Shankar Rao Kulkarni (HOD Economics Jayshree Periwal) placed emphasis on teaching methodology to make the teaching-learning process more interesting. In particular, use of the Bloom taxonomy, a framework for categorising educational goals and how they should be implemented in classroom teaching, was emphasized. The workshop aspired to cast light on critical and augmentative topics like multiple intelligences (verbal, logical, visual etc.)
As part of the workshop, teachers participated in role play activities that allowed them to reflect on teaching techniques. The faculty were further asked to study case studies in order to understand the practical application of these concepts, facilitating a deeper understanding of students.
The workshop proved to be beneficial in widening the scope of knowledge of the versatile subject of Economics.
Lastly, Mrs Anu Bhatia Principal of the school expressed her warm appreciation to the resource person and all the 43 participants from local and outstation schools as it was a fruitful session for all the teachers who have attended the event.

Children's day Celebration

St Edmunds School, Jawahar Nagar, in memory of India's first Prime Minister Shree Jawaharlal Nehru, celebrated children's day on 14 Nov 2018. In honor of this auspicious occasion, the school organised an inter-house competition.The theme for the contest for the primary section was "baachpan" and for middle section was" nai soch- modern India" The magical voice of students created a warm and melodious atmosphere. The judges of the vocal group were left stunned by the students' breathtaking performances.
Students of preprimary dressed like a mermaid, fish and other aquatic animals, and played games like “Crab grabs the ball” They were beautifully dressed and looked fabulous in their attire.

Principal Mrs Anu Bhatia addressed the students and blessed them with a great future ahead.

Annual function 2018 "Rangeelo Rajasthan"

St.Edmund’s School, Jawahar Nagar celebrated its annual function with great vibrancy and cheer, on Friday, 02 Nov 2018 at Ravindra Manch open theatre. The annual function was presided over by Mr Ashok Parnami MLA, former president BJP. Other dignitaries present, including Mr Kailash Chaturvedi (renowned educationist & Head of Rajasthan Patrika publication), Mrs Suman Dalela and Mrs Amrita Mathur (Former Staff members of St Edmund’s School), were felicitated.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Hon’ble chief guest Mr Ashok Parnami and Ravi Setia secretary St Edmund’s educational society escorted by the principal and other dignitaries. This was followed by a bouquet presentation by Assistant Head boy and head girl. Principal Mrs Anu Bhatia shared the school annual report of the past session. This was followed by prize distribution.
The theme for the function this year was “Rangeelo Rajasthan”. Rajasthani culture is rich with an extended history of honourable kingship and royalty. It was honoured with a performance of ghoomar dance. Chari dance overwhelmed the audience. Manjira dance performance was also held to give the viewers a true feeling of complete immersion in Rajasthan’s rich heritage and traditions. The students also performed puppet dancing, which is another important piece of Rajasthani culture. St Edmund’s nursery school,Vinoba Vihar pre-primary students also performed Kesariya Balam, a graceful dance performance which was full of colours and enthusiasm. The highlight of the ceremony was the participants of the Institute of Saint Dominique, France, who gave a graceful dance performance of cultural traditions of their country. This team was mentored by International Coordinator MRS CAROLYN NORRIS - SCHNEIDER.
This musical interlude led way into dramatic performances for the evening which were based on old Rajasthani legends. It opened with the play, ‘Maharana Pratap Ka Swabhiman’. The play was centred around the famous royal leader, Maharana Pratap and his adventures. It was followed by the tale of ‘Khajri ki Beti’, which is centred around the theme cutting of trees. The last act was ‘Hadi Rani’, a place that tells the story of a queen who sacrifices her life so that her husband can live honourably. The bright and energetic performances kept the onlookers spellbound.
All the meritorious students, as well as students with outstanding performance, were awarded such as Student of the year award was earned by Tanish Katta, Eklavya award (for best in sports) was received by Kratin Gurjar, Ramanujan award (best in Maths) was achieved by Yash Munjal. The cultural presentation was skillfully organized and directed by Mudra International studio for performing arts and Rang Mastane theatre group.
The evening depicted the shining talent of the students and was a delightful experience for everyone present. The programme culminated with the National Anthem.
